I’m really enjoying this live set by Seattle’s own Misha this morning. Turns out that lovely, mellow techno, a cup of coffee and an overcast sky happens to be a perfect combination.
The Chillography 104 DJ sets by Spektra, Blue Spectral Monkey, DJ Eckoe and myself (Crispy) are now up and ready for your downloading pleasure! Head over to the Chillography Downloads page to grab them and any of the other past sets that you may have missed. Happy listening!

The new version of the Chillography.net is now live. I’ve moved it over to a WordPress blog format to make it easier to maintain and update as well as extend its feature set.
Check it out and let me know if you find anything too funky or too awesome.
This Saturday is going to be a full night of great music events. Earlier in the evening is a surround sound downtempo exhibition from the fine folks of the Electronic Music Collective. Me thinks I am going to head over to Youngstown for this at 7 then up the Church of Bass for In The Flow at 10 to catch Ott and Pitch Black. Can I get a “Woot!” for a city full of amazing music? Woot!
Total Immersion 2 (TI2) is much more than just a performance; it’s a journey into a world of downtempo electronic music by amazing artists who will be performing original music in surround-sound, to multi-screen visuals in a rare and unique artistic setting. “Rare” is the operative word here… Live music that’s performed in surround is something that’s uncommon, even in major centers around the world. It’s often regarded as too difficult to pull off. EMC, however, has mastered the art and goes further to combine melodic downtempo compositions with lush and immersive visuals.
Check out the site for the full event description and plenty of links. And be sure to watch the String Station teaser video. That looks like a magnificent instrument and I can’t wait to hear it live in surround.
This Saturday, June 13, at the Transcendent Church of Bass is going to be epic. Two of my favorite groups are playing back-to-back, sandwiched between some of the best local talent Seattle can muster. Both Pitch Black and Ott have been in town within the last year, and both played top notch sets. Pitch Black are incredible live as they are truly live mixing their material, meaning no two sets are ever the same and they cater the speed and energy of the music to the response and energy of the dance floor. On the other hand, when Ott played just a few months ago at Nectar, it sounded more like he was adding effects on top of premixed tracks. While I love love love Ott’s psychedelic digital dub, I’m really hoping he’s got a fresh set for us and not just a replay of the last set we got from him. Regardless, these two dubby heavyweights are both within my top five bands and seeing them in the intimate setting of the Church of Bass is going to be quite memorable.
This is certainly the party of the month, and definitely the thing to do on Saturday. It’ll probably be packed, if not sold out, so get your presales from BPT and stroll in when you feel ready to. Ott goes on at 11:30, followed by Pitch Black at 1.

Woo… another fun fun night at HOTwired. Nelia opened the night with a really great set of midtempo grooves. I really need to get her onto a future Chillography lineup. I’ve seen her play a few times now, and she has amazing taste in music. Then Eckoe and I played a set that started progressive and ended with full-on, hands-in-the-air psytrance. The dance floor grew and grew and was at its fullest when we were playing our hardest. Then Osiris and Amanita took over and showed us all why they are booked as much as they are. Playing a solid 2×4 set of groovy techno and electro house that had Noc Noc jumping until the lights flipped on at 1:30. Nicely done, boys, nicely done.
Here are some photos and videos snapped by Lara. I’ll update with my own once I get them up on the net.

I’m playing with DJ Eckoe in a 2×4 of DOOM tonight at HOTwired. We play 10:30-12. Nelia and Osiris vs Amanita will also be pumping out the jams. Come on out and ass your friggin’ dance off!

I’m currently listening to the lovely music of Rena Jones via the Solipsistic Nation podcast. Cello, violin and other strings backed by delicate electronic beats is sure going down smooth right now. I highly recommend checking this episode out. I’m a regular listener of this eclectronica (<- get it? eclectic + electronica) podcast and would encourage you to subscribe to the feed and add a weekly dose of great music to your routine.

I’ve spent the last couple of days polishing up a new track to drop in my upcoming sets. I feel like I’m really honing in on my personal sound and this track is just the start of a whole new breed of face-melting, dance floor burners from me.
Be sure to come on out to HOTwired this Friday to hear this track on a big beautiful sound system.
