Sculpture present a flattened zoetrope on the surface of a vinyl record. The Victorian zoetrope, invented in 1834, was a three-dimensional object that consisted of a spinning cylinder with vertical slits through which still images appeared to move.

Sculpture’s animation requires the use of a video camera to convey its magic, but as can be seen from their videos the effort is well worth it. Just the knowledge of the latent potential contained within the vinyl surface serves to enhance the experience of the music and the spinning disc, even to the naked eye, is a hypnotic spectacle.>

The artist and scientist may at first seem strange bedfellows. Of the many human disciplines, there are few that could seem more divergent. The artist employs image and metaphor; the scientist uses number and equation. Art creates illusions meant to evoke emotion, while science engages in the pursuit of empirical verification. There is, to some degree, a physiological cause for this apparent divergence: the two halves, or hemispheres, of the brain.

The right side of the brain is responsible for emotions and intuition, the left for logic and reason. Yet the notion of two brains gives rise to the function of one mind. Perhaps it is this one “undivided mind” that presents a way forward through the monumental cultural changes we now face, enabling us to surf this dynamic moment in history from a platform of balance and symmetry.

This installation endeavors to fuse the aesthetic beauty of art and science in order to create a synthesis of mind, one which is as much rational as it is fantastic. Think of this undivided mind as a prototype of human possibility—an evolutionary signal of convergence, harmony, and accelerated progress. The rest is up to us.

This film explores playful uses for the increasingly ubiquitous ‘glowing rectangles’ that inhabit the world.

We use photographic and animation techniques that were developed to draw moving 3-dimensional typography and objects with an iPad. In dark environments, we play movies on the surface of the iPad that extrude 3-d light forms as they move through the exposure. Multiple exposures with slightly different movies make up the stop-frame animation.

As a huge fan of Theo Ellsworth, this animation immediately caught my interest. I absolutely love that surreal, hyper-detailed, doodle/stream-of-consciousness inspired illustration style, and Malcolm Sutherland has taken it to another level by bring it to life in this lovely animation. Enjoy!

The brilliant Imaginary Foundation is dead-set on ruling the world with its inspirational and desigenerly sublime tshirts. The latest batch of new prints is not exception. They already occupy half of my shirt drawer… nothing wrong with adding another shirt or two to my collection, right???

Paintings are getting framed, musicians are getting booked, and my excitement level is getting higher every day.

A portion of my new collection includes a number of works created after studio time at the Gage Academy this fall and winter with contemporary realist master Geoffrey Laurence. And the amazing young master Rita Natarova.

These works are inspired by obscure Edwardian photographs who’s heads I have replaced with doe-eyed dolls. They are a subtle interpretation of my internal state. The rest of the collection is filled out with my normal crazed state of working in the moment and having fun with my humorous side.

This time instead of having just my art I’ve included Anthony Angel, an inspired jeweler: Anthony Angel.

And the perfected tees and sweatshirt line of Slate Clothing.

The music in this produced set was created between 2000 and 2008, which was a very explorative time in my music making pursuits. I’m at a point now where I’m feeling more certain of my own creative voice, and feel that combining my older works into a larger piece is a proper way of closing the book on that chapter and allowing me to have a fresh start with my newer techniques, equipment, and processes. Essentially, Regression Session is a time capsule of sorts, documenting the ambient side of my musical voyage since 2000. The production files of most of these tracks have been lost to digital gremlins and computer platform changes, so they are presented here in their final state—goofed notes, audio glitches, mastering mistakes and all. They are what they are and will never be anything different. Despite these imperfections, I am proud to say this is/was me and am happy to have a nice package of the material to present to the world.

Your thoughts and feedback would be very welcome, but are not expected. If you enjoy what you hear, or parts of it, let me know! This music has been intensely private for so long, that I’m now very curious about how it sounds to other sets of ears.

Fans of visionary/psychedelic art, the creative process, imaginative creatures, dream worlds, and unique stories should do what they can to buy this book. It has easily became one of my favorite graphic novels in my collection.
