Splendid Beats Music and Thoughts by Crispy / Leave Trace

Memorial Day weekend, deep in Oregon’s Umpqua National Forest, I played an afternoon live set featuring an equal mix of my released and unreleased material. I was really happy with how this particular collection and flow of music turned out, so I’m excited to share it with all of you as well. Enjoy!

I have 2 tracks — Quintessence and States of Decay (with Michael Maricle) — featured on this new, FREE, compilation from Invibe Music. The comp has music by Kalpataru Tree, Subaqueous, Michael Maricle, Guda, Babajaga, and more, and is loaded with beautiful midtempo vibes to spice up your Summer soundtrack. Enjoy!

Available for free download is my 3-track EP, Textural Selection. These tracks are linked by their synesthetic fusion of audio grit and the deep, mellow atmospheres that I’m compelled to explore. Sometimes all it takes is a bit of fuzz in your stylus of life to remind you to pay attention to the moment and savor reality while you still can.

Stream it in it’s entirety via the player below and download a track or the entire release in the format of your choosing—including lossless formats—here.

Music and Art by Chris Haines. Dilate originally by Justin Byrnes, Keith Kelley & Sean Donoghue-Neider and released on Anxiety of Acceleration EP. Mastered by Jake Perrine.

Here’s a glimpse of a new psytrance work-in-progress.

Do you know about Monster Planet, a monthly evening of bad movies and improvised electronica? We have multitrack recorded every moment of every show for the past 2 years, in order to capture those moments of sonic synchronisity when the 5 unrehearsed musicians on stage all lock into the same vibe and something truly wonderful flows from the speakers. “Monster Planet — Year One” is a collection of some of our favorite moments from the first 12 shows.

I can’t help but think back to the heyday of The Orb and Future Sound of London when I listen to this stuff, so if that breed of amorphous, psychedelic ambiance is your thing, you should love what we’ve been cooking up at Monster Planet.

For your listening and downloading pleasure is my live Leave Trace set recorded at Chillography 301 on July 31, 2010 at Myrtle Edwards Park, on the lovely Seattle waterfront. This chillin’-in-the-sunshine inspired performance included the premier of several new tunes, including a melodic downtempo remix of “Monday Mimosas”, the spaced-out “Zero G”, and closes with an unofficial Leave Trace downtempo remix of “Canyon Hymn” by post rock gods, Grails.

Tracklist ::
1. Splendor
2. Breach
3. Monday Mimosas (Chill Then Serve Mix)
4. Shellshock
5. Zero G
6. Grails – Canyon Hymn (Leave Trace Mix)
