Here’s the March 2010 installment of Psilicon Dreams, my monthly mix of psychedelic downtempo electronica for DI.FM’s Psychill channel. For this mix, I crossed all sorts of genre borders and included psybient, IDM, dubstep, downtempo, psydub, glitch, and a dash of ambient and sloa goa. I’m rather fond of this mix as it feels cohesive, yet covers so much psychill ground.

For this mix, I dove into my much neglected vinyl collection and pulled out some of my favorite chillout tracks from the mid-to-late ’90s. Much of what we now hear coming out of the psychill scene was directly influenced from these records. And to top it off, I whipped up a little Mark Neal inspired retrodelic cover art. One sunny summer afternoon, at a lovely Seattle waterfront park, this mix was the first of a full day of sun-worshipping chillout sets by some of our favorite Chillography guests. Tonight I’m playing at DanceChurch with Amanita and Osiris Indriya of the Future Nurses. This is sure to be one stompalicious night. There may even been some 3-way tagteam action…. we shall see how the evening plays out, but I can think of no other DJs that I’d rather be paired with for the intimate DanceChurch setting. I’m scheduled to open at 7:30, so come early!

All ages, family friendly, and alcohol free. $5-10 requested donation. (But if that keeps you away you’re really silly and losing out for sure.) Water will be available for free (please bring your own cup or container). Hot tea, bottled water, and reusable earplugs will for sale.

**Dancechurch is a family-friendly alcohol-free community gathering on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month. We dance to a variety of music provided by some of the finest West Coast DJ’s and musicians. And those of you that think dancing with kids can’t be fun, think again. It’s a riot to see young and innocent kids having a blast shaking it to the music we love! And this is a perfect opportunity for all our teenagers and young adults to come and kick it as well.

I’ve noticed that my Good Morning mix has logged over 1400 downloads and counting within the last two days alone, yet can’t find any trace of where those hits/downloads could be coming from. Very strange…. Either it’s a hacker, a zombie computer, a bug, or that mix has become suddenly very popular in some eastern block country. I’m hoping it’s the latter, but does anyone have any tricks to getting to the bottom of all this download traffic? It’s seems to only be affecting that one mix, with no additional spike in page views, which makes me think that this is not normal web usage.
