mind-blowing immersive…

VISION: A monthly series of events designed as immersive experiences that feature live video and surround sounds where guests can loose themselves in rhythms and visions. Music genres will very with mellow sounds to start the night that build into a climax of trance-state inducing dance experience.

FUTURE NURSES and Tracer Visuals will take you there…

TRACER VISUALS:
Inspired by the work of psychedelic artists in many mediums, Scott Sunn of Tracer Visuals uses video feedback and MAX MSP with Jitter to create an evolving free-form video “painting” that follows the musical experience. Scott and his work have been featured with rock legends Radiohead (Hail to the Thief Tour 2003-2004 in US, UK, Japan and Australia), as well as tours with Keller Williams and String Cheese Incident. He has also been a consistent feature at Seattle’s Decibel Festival.

FUTURE NURSES:
Drawing upon experiences with legendary NW event productions including Infinite Connections and the Oracle Gatherings, Osiris Indriya and Brian Parker (aka Amanita) created a new brand to feature a mixture of deep and funky dance music that crosses genres. FUTURE NURSES has grown to include dancers, performance artists and two club nights at Club Noc Noc. “Building a glorious future together, today!”

Two great pieces of news regarding Chillography 104 on May 8.

tracer visuals logo
First, Tracer Visuals has been been confirmed. If you went to 102, you’ll know how special Scott’s blend of pixel magic is. If you missed it, check out the photos to get a glimpse of his visual stylings.

Second, I’m excited to announce that in an effort to share the beautiful thing that is Chillography with as many people as possible, we are trying a bit of an experiment and will be doing a free live audio/video webcast of the entire show. The tests have been run, and things are looking and sounding good. So, if you can’t make the show but want to get a small taste of what it’s all about, you’ll be able to catch the stream at either the Chillography.net website or our Ustream.tv channel.

Three instruments have been stoking the fires of my gear-lust a lot lately. I’m just putting this out there in case Santa is listening and has not been effected too much by the economic crisis.

Tenori-on
There is lots to love about this thing. The portability, the method of sequencing, the pretty lights, the interface, and perhaps most importantly, the freedom of not needing a computer. There are tons of videos out there about the Tenori-on, but this on is the most musical that I’ve seen.

Fender Rhodes
Oh, that smooth Rhodes sound…. It just slips into your ears and hugs you from the inside. I would not have a place in my studio to put one of these things, but I would certainly make some serious layout compromises to squeeze one in. That classic, soulful sound just calls to me.

Hang
This is a incredibly hard instrument to purchase. Only a few are made each year, and the desirability should be obvious. That combination of smooth melodious notes from a percussive instrument really attracts me. Due to the scarcity of the Hang, this is realistically the instrument of these three lusts that I’m least likely to ever own. A boy can dream though.

After a splendid week of vacation, I’m back, refreshed, and ready for it…. whatever “it” happens to be. I worked on a delightfully oozy new trance tune, played in the snow, worked in the yard, went to the comic con, hung with a good friend, got some reading in, and had some great quality time with the wife. Yessir… that is what you call a vacation success. :)
